My first bite of Antico just happened to coincide with the Festa Della Pizza announcement that the Westside pizzeria had won “Top in Class” for their authentic Napoletana pies. And what followed was an all-out Italian-style party. Complete with my two local favorites, Westside Creamery (my espresso y gelato dessert was to diieeee for) and King of Pops. Not to mention some wine and bubbly courtesy of Perrine’s Wine Shop, and some seriously potent limoncello courtesy of Antico owner, Giovanni.

Can you say “perfect Friday afternoon”?!

The scene in the “VIP” kitchen could only be compared to some kind of World Cup victory. Kids were running around, spraying giant bottles of Moet on the kitchen staff. Giovanni was so happy, he was close to tears, as he got official confirmation via MacBook that his award was official. And while I still have no idea what this Festa della Pizza actually means, judging by the celebration, it was a pretty big win for Antico. And for Atlanta. And for my tastebuds…. finally.
